I'm not so sure this is really the ugly3, but it is a prototype based on 1 and 2. Since I was playing with all different parts anyhow I really mixed in the ugly this time and went for a double bagger. The fuse foam is computer packing stuff. It is a lot like funnoodle foam. It is very spongy and fairly light. Unfortunately tape doesn't stick to it very well and CA also flakes off easily. Sorta makes quick building difficult. The current wing is the ugly1 wing. I built a new wing that was slightly different and ran it this past weekend with a edp300c/c motor and it sucked so bad I thought the plane was flawed. I swapped over to the ugly1 wing and it was like the laws of gravity changed. Now I know to take more care in the wing building. The parts are 2 hitec 55 servos, a gws pico rx, a great planes c30 ESC, a gws EPS-400C/C (geared 400) motor and dual 900 mah lions. AUW is a bit over 18 oz. The test flight was in my back yard, a 50'x50' square lined with trees, in 10+ mph winds. It really wasn't a good match. The plane climed out briskly for the first 40' and then I yanked a hard left and started setting up the never ending circle pattern but it was heavy and hot enough to not quite fit the space. I ended up in the trees at 3/4 of a lap twice before deciding it was time to put the poor thing away. I think it could just barely do laps if I had a little stick time in, but I think I'll hold off for bigger spaces. The real ugly3 will use a heavier rx and a lost plane locator, but it also may have a 300 motor and only 1 lion. I just ran the 400 because it was there. It really packs the power though so I think I will give it a try at the field. Power really does corrupt!
